Essex International Wedding Photography

Caroline and John had a beautiful intimate and traditional wedding at Marygreen Manor in Brentwood, Essex. This grand Tudor manor house exudes charm, with oak panelled drawing rooms, inglenook fireplaces and a gorgeous courtyard garden. It has been my pleasure to know John for a few years now, and I was absolutely delighted when he asked me to shoot his wedding. Having heard talk of Caroline many times, it was fantastic to get to know her in a local pub before embarking on their great fun engagement shoot in London, where they'd had their first date. Caroline and John are both teachers and had met on an international training course (John is based in England and Caroline is from Quebec, Canada, from where she has now emigrated). Their shared passions and Caroline's enviable patience with John's sense of humour make them a beautiful couple to behold.

I was so pleased the John's children were with us for the day, as they not only had a great time watching their Dad get married, and delivering a very heartfelt reading, but they clearly enjoyed playing up to the cameras! Becky and Daniel were dream children for photography, as well as being a real credit to John on the day.

Their engagement shoot in London also served to provide some photos for Caroline to send home to family and friends who would be travelling over from Quebec for the big day later on. The Quebecois party at the wedding provided a true international feel, but with many language teachers on hand proceedings continued apace. Readings during the ceremony were delivered in French as well as English, and John (who teaches multiple languages) delivered a very witty speech seamlessly drifting between both languages, much to everyone's delight.

From the 16th Century setting, to the sword used to cut the cake, there was a real sense of drama to the day, but Caroline and John's warm hospitality and charm created a real family atmosphere amongst friends old and new. There were many guests who had known both John and Caroline since they were young children and the joy on everyone's faces at their shared happiness was tangible. It was truly an honour to be taking shots at Caroline and John's wedding and I can't wait to see them again soon.
