Yorkshire Wedding Photography

Jen and Damon had both a Civil Ceremony and Christian Blessing in the rustic Barmbyfield Barns near York. Jen and Damon are such an incredible couple, I had an amazing time shooting their day and really felt like part of the family. Jen met Damon at work, where they both help people with emotional difficulties. I had the absolute pleasure of spending the weekend with them for their engagement shoot and had a great time playing with Mia and Eira, their daughters, who joined us to turn the shoot into a family session. Mia is quite possibly the loudest assistant I've ever had on a shoot, but her enthusiasm was admirable.

I was so excited to return to Yorkshire, to the beautiful Barmbyfields Barns to shoot their wedding day. Just a short journey outside of York, Barmbyfield is a collection of Barns on Barmby Moor. The venue offered a range of large spaces, with a separate stone barn for the ceremony, bedecked in candles and a very warm main barn for the reception. I was blown away by the beautifully textured bare stone and brick surfaces throughout, this really was a photographer's dream venue! The wedding was a gorgeous rustic affair, with the barns beautifully dressed by an incredibly amount of home-made decorations produced by the couple and an amazing naked cake from Claire's Cakes.

I spent the morning with Jen and her family, enjoying much tea from Ruth (mother of the bride) and learning the multitasking clearly necessary for parenthood by helping mind Eira and Reuben (Son of Pippa, a Bridesmaid) whilst also taking shots. They had planned some suprises for Jen, with her own personal guitarist bringing her round to the ceremony barn. It was beautiful to be so involved with Jen's family and friends throughout the morning.

With both a Civil Ceremony and a blessing from family friend and Pippa's father, Revd Nigel, it was a beautiful, warm wedding. There were beautiful readings from close personal and family friends and everyone joined in with singing, with even Eira clapping along. Damon had been working away from home for the week, so Jen, Mia and Eira hadn't seen him in a week prior to the ceremony, and as soon as he started speaking, Eira shouted out "Dad", it was a truly moving moment in a gorgeous day.

Food again showed off the incredible ingenuity of the couple, with a full high tea being sourced, including some absurdly large scones, hot alcoholic punch and more Yorkshire tea than you could drink! Jen and Damon had thought of all their guests and there was plenty for everyone to do, with a homemade selfie booth, a full games room, a magician and a hot chocolate and sweets bar. I had a phenomenal time at this wedding and cannot wait to see Jen, Damon and the girls again soon!
